no such thing as good luck or bad luck
the farmer's luck
Long ago, there lived a farmer at the edge of a small village.
One day, his best horse broke through the fence and ran away. The farmer's neighbors came to visit and give him their condolences for his loss.
"Such bad luck!" they said sympathetically.
"Maybe." replied the farmer. His neighbors were puzzled by his response.
The next day, the horse came back, and with it, followed 2 new wild horses.
The neighbors, hearing the news, visited the farmer again.
"Wow, such good luck you have!"
"Maybe" said the farmer.
That day, the farmer's son, while attempting to ride one of the wild horses, fell and broke his leg.
"Oh, how unfortunate!" the neighbors said.
"Maybe" the farmer replied.
The following day, a military brigade marched through the village on the way to war, drafting all the young men in the village for their army. They noticed the farmer's son's broken leg, and did not draft the wounded young man.
"Such good luck!" said the neighbors.
"maybe" said the farmer.

fun day
so today i got up early and headed up to Heber with Andrew, because his father in law owns at least part of the new Jack Nicklaus golf course up there. It's called Red Ledges, and its beautiful. it was the hardest golf course i have ever played though. the good thing is that other people apparently find it difficult as well, so every time i lost a ball in the trees i could find another one to replace it with. on one hole while we were looking for andrews ball we found 7 others. golf is fun, but i left after 9 holes and went to meet up with mindy, dmitri, and his date Holland (what a cool name for a girl i think). we headed down to springville with dmitris guns and had a hay day. he has two pistols and a shotgun. he had some other friends with guns come too. we tore it up. heres some videos.

summer 09
well its been an amazing summer. its been nice not to have something too stressful going on all summer. ive been able to just relax, have fun, work some camps for money, and just enjoy life. and i have enjoyed it so much. its been one of the best summers i can remember. here are some of the things i got to do...

the last one is me turning 23.. other than that i spent a lot of time with mindy obviously... thats her little puppy. its a pug. they are cute as babies, but adults are kinda ugly... haha. later in the summer we went to lagoon with her family. such a fun little place, but my stomach doesnt handle the spinning roller coasters as well as it used to. the first picture is us at mona reservoir. there is a cool rope swing that send you into the water. we had a good time with a group of friends there...

besides that we have gone on some cool hikes at sundance and american fork canyons, gone horseback riding at her grandpas ranch, and even went to the lehi rodeo... like i said its been a fun summer of activities...

we also went to the Oquirrh Mt. temple open house with some friends, and then i got to come home and spend some time with the family...

next came vacations... first lake powell (dads gonna get mad at me when he sees the cliffs we jumped off, especially if he knows i was doing flips off them after these pictures..) where we had a blast every day and i loved being in my favorite vacation place in the world. look at little jace (hes 5) on the ski skimmer.. a cool little contraption for little kids to learn to ski....
then came vegas...

we went to the mirage to see both of our favorite animals, dolphins and white tigers.. its was a blast. then we came back up to provo to spend some more time with more family...

and thats basically my summer in a nutshell. its been awesome. now its back to the grind with school and volleyball. we already are starting workouts, today i thought they were going to kill me with conditioning, but we will be back in shape very quickly and ready to win some matches come january... cant wait!
i love you all!!!!

early start to jeffs wedding
so this morning i woke up at 5 am to head up to Boise for Jeff's wedding. everyone bailed on me last minute but i had already committed to picking up andrew and ashley at the airport so i just came up anyways. i didnt have time to eat before i left so i stopped by the mickey d's by the freeway to get some mcgriddles for breakfast, and when i pulled into the drive thru the guy says "gooooood morning and welcome to mcdonalds. would you like to try one of our Angus Burgers today?" to which my response was, "uh... are you serious? Noo...."
i ordered and pulled around and he said, "Haha, you dont want an angus burger at 530 am? sorry man, i forgot what time it was." i just laughed with him and then thought to myself... how does ANYONE forget what time it is when they are working at 5 am? it's not light outside, which granted could make it easier to confuse the morning with evening, but unless this guy was working the drive thru since 9 pm the night before, i dont understand how he could have been confused.
anyways...
jeffs wedding was beautiful and sweet. kylie looked amazing. i loved her dress, even though in saying so i feel a little like a girl. we are about to head over to the reception, and then i will return to my hilton suite (thanks to ashley) and delve back into Mere Christianity... CS Lewis was a very smart man.
ok peace out
